This class of dyestuffs has a wide appeal in the dyeing industry because of its low cost, bright shades, wide range and applicability on Cellulosic fibres. These dyes are used in the dyeing of cotton, rayon, jute, paper, etc.

They are also used for application on leather, silk, nylon, union materials, bast fibres and for many other miscellaneous purposes such as the production of metal lakes for use as pigments.
